Charity coffers boosted

17th March 2010

Health and disability charities topped the list of beneficiaries to receive a windfall from Xentum's Christmas Giving Campaign.

Nearly £1000 of Xentum charity vouchers were issued to clients and professional connections in the run up to Christmas and have steadily been redeemed over the last few months.

The second most popular choice was for overseas aid charities including the Haiti disaster appeal followed by hospices in third place.

A number of professional organisations with a special interest in children's charities received Save The Children tree sapling vouchers.  With care and attention these saplings will grow into trees and produce fruit, walnuts or tea that can be sold at local markets to generate income in some of the world's poorest communities.  The money can be used in schools to buy desperately needed resources and the trees have an environmental benefit in that they enrich the local environment and prevent soil erosion.

Dominic Baldwin, managing director of Xentum, said "We're delighted the majority of the vouchers have been redeemed though there are still a number of vouchers yet to be utilised.  It's really easy to pledge a charity so if you haven't already done so dig out your card, fill it in and simply return it."

Charity Vouchers are issued by Anglia Giving - an independent, not-for-profit organisation established in 2002 to raise funds for UK charitable organisations.  www.charityvouchers.org
