Charity cycle ride success

5th May 2010

After six hours and 30 minutes of furious peddling, Dominic Baldwin completed the gruelling Century Cycle Challenge over the bank holiday weekend with eight other team mates to help raise over £100,000 for The Teenage Cancer Trust.

Dominic and his friends including Xentum clients known as the ‘Numbnuts’ cycled against 90 others from Nevill Holt in Leicestershire to Burnham Deepdale in aid of the charity which aims to build enough specialist teenage oncology units in NHS Trust hospitals across the country so that every teenager battling cancer in the UK has access to one by 2012.

Last year the ‘Numbnuts’ secured first place in the competitive time of five hours 40 minutes and this year came in at a worthy place.

Managing Director Dominic said: “I found the challenge much tougher this year which was really down to the fact I’ve not been able put in as much training as I would have liked due to family and work commitments. We were slightly slower than last year but were still delighted to complete it and the atmosphere on the race was brilliant. Our team’s sponsorship money is still coming through but so far all the cyclists who took part have raised over £100,000 which is a great achievement.”
