Let us introduce you to Joshua Jones, our new Financial Planner.

Joshua Jones

How did you get into a career in financial services?

I’ve always had a keen interest in how markets work and wanted a career that involved something different on a day-by-day basis. At the time of deciding which career path I wanted, Financial Planning seemed to tick all the boxes and it’s safe to say I was not disappointed. Almost straight out of university, at the tender age of 21 I moved to Singapore on my own and quickly began studying to become a Financial Planner. Then 2 years later I returned to the UK to continue my career and I have never looked back.

What do you most enjoy about your work?

Meeting new people. I have worked up and down the UK and overseas and met people from all over the world from 100s of different industries and there are no two life stories that are the same.

Why did you want to join the Xentum team?

Fundamentally Xentum is like no other I have experienced in the market with a true emphasis not only on the best client outcomes but also in the team it has built. Wanting to become part of that team quickly became a very easy decision to make.

What’s the best piece of advice you could give to someone about managing money well?

Everyone is different and has different aspects of their life that are important to them. The best way to manage money is by getting a tailored plan that takes every aspect of your life into consideration. All too often I see people make financial mistakes simply by copying the financial decisions of others. Whether that be a colleague or family member, it’s always best to look internally before making any financial decisions.

What’s your biggest achievement?

Completing the Manchester Marathon after suffering from Covid the week before the race. My training was flipped on its head and I was proud to finish with a time of 4hrs 20mins. A time I am determined to beat in the near future.

If you were an animal, what would you be?

Eagle I always have a recurring dream that I’m flying high in the sky and then I plummet to the ground only to soar back up again!

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Japan. Fascinating country which seems to have it all from great food to culture to ski slopes.

Morning person or night owl?

Morning person.

A good night out would entail…

Great food, good wine and even better company.

Who is your hero?

Tiger Woods – overcome adversity and revolutionized the game of golf.

Any books/podcasts/resources you’d recommend our audience?

Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink & Leif Babin.
